Good question. Even a full-time RVer must choose a domicile. That's where you would get your drivers license and register your vehicles. RVers often choose a no-state-income-tax state like TX, FL or SD. There are mail-forwarding companies you can use to establish your address plus get your mail. See my ebook, Retire to an RV at RVLifestyleExperts for more of an explanation.

Hey guys, love the video. One question. How do you renew things like your driver's license & license plates if you don't have a permanent address? Thanks for your time.

If you have an RV why would you stay in a harsh winter climate off the grid? Maybe move a little further south? In the desert in the SW, you can camp free on BLM land. You do need to move after 14 days, or you can stay on one of the Long Term Visitor Areas for 7 months for $180. You can use bales of hay or insulation to protect your RV but with no hookups, you'd have to move to dump. Plus haul water. A 5th wheel or MH has insulated tanks- better for full-time RVing in cold weather. Good luck!

@RockStudioLive I thought I was responding to 386arizona then realized my error :-) I sent our link to their mail. Our travel blog and our other YT channel is "on the lighter side" , that is the lighter side of my YT channel ;-) My channel is a little more on the the subject of alternative- hot button issues, conspiracy stuff. My wife is the master mind behind our travel blog. It is called "a life made simple.". com. We have been following many travel blogs. Peace out.

midactsD @ 10:07 am #

@midactsD Yes, we are from BC, Canada. We aren't exactly rubber tramps (the term is from the book and movie "Into the "Wild"- the story of Chris McCandless) we are in between a rubber tramp and a wealthy snowbird ;-) Snow fledglings. My wife has created a travel blog and has a YT channel. We are presently on the road, left BC just over a week ago. We are staying with friends in Nampa, Idaho. We plan on going all the way down to Yucatan penisula. I will send you the link to our travelblog.

RockStudioLive @ 10:07 am #

@midactsD Rubber tramp! Never heard that before but I will use it in future and only in positive way. Are you Canadian?

RockStudioLive @ 10:07 am #

@invisibleisolation I was being facetious. I travel by canoe and camp for free but I think RVing is a nice way to live, also.

invisibleisolation @ 10:07 am #

@onewomanandsomesongs That's what I plan on doing, I'm sick of living on the edge sometimes. So I'm buying an RV, a nice, small and up to date one and living there! I work from home, so as long as I have internet then life is great!

invisibleisolation @ 10:07 am #

@RockStudioLive Not true, why do you need a 250k RV? Why do you have to eat in a restaurant?

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

That would be nice, RockStudioLive! And, you can make different choices and live on a lot less. :-)

RockStudioLive @ 10:07 am #

All I need is my $250,000 RV and $200 a day for gas and I can be frugal all year long! Oh and $100 for restaurant meals. And $50 a day for camping space.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

Good way of putting it, CampColumbo! I agree.
Jaimie

CampColombo @ 10:07 am #

Exaclty! What you lack in space is made up by how much freedom you gain!

midactsD @ 10:07 am #

I love the life of a rubber tramp ;-) Home ownership is next to impossible for our generation, so my wife and I choose to live on the road. We work for 5 months at a provincial park the live in our travel trailer down in the southern USA.

isit1984yet @ 10:07 am #

You are a beautiful older woman.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

Fortunately you have a choice in how far you travel. You can have great trips and adventures without traveling far. Or, just take longer to get there, if you are full-time or have the luxury of plenty of time. Because RVing is flexible, you can make choices that keep your budget under control. You can camp free some nights and put that money towards fuel, if you choose.

gfc56 @ 10:07 am #

Motorhomes get 10 mpg max. Most less. Only popup campers and light weight pull campers are inexpensive to pull with a high mpg SUV. RV travel is expensive.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

That's a good feeling- to know your RV is paid for and can be used- just in case.

Jaimie

onewomanandsomesongs @ 10:07 am #

My hubby and I own a vintage Airstream trailer. It gives me peace of mind to know that if something happened to his job, our trailer is paid for. So we wouldn't be out on the street of course. Plus, we love to camp more than anything in the world. :)

RETIREMESOON @ 10:07 am #

@SuperSexyBoiGod I suggest you watch the DVD called "Rubber Tramps " … this Documentry talks about the freedom of being on wheels. It also shows you people that have been living this lifestyle on little or no money. > TRAILER ON YOU TUBE

Also read the blog about a man that lives with his two dogs in a van for the last 22 years. He does this in Arizona at different elevations for temperature comfort. He spends about $5,000 a year and works a little bit.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

@SuperSexyBoiGod There are seasonal positions that provide a free or low-cost RV spot. You might work a deal with the owner to provide security and park on site. Or, if you want to be in a more metropolitan area, some mobile home parks have inexpensive monthly rates and take some RVs. We've done some light camp hosting duties, gotten a site and then worked elsewhere.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

@4plazaauto Hope to see you on the road too! What an adventure and educational experience for them.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

@nathuwjohn Click on Road Map to RVing on the right at my website, RVLifestyleExperts and you'll find lots of helpful articles on where to camp and how to save money . Figure 7 mpg for a gas motorhome, better for a diesel truck or RV. Travel slower, enjoy the area, take advantage of weekly and monthly rates and save.

4plazaauto @ 10:07 am #

@apriltx My wife and I have the exact same plan with 4 kids in 2 years! Hope to see you all on the road.

386arizona @ 10:07 am #

@apriltx Sounds great! That will be an adventure they will never forget.
